10.8 Plan Splitting

To efficiently manage large areas during drone operations, such as spraying or surveying, careful planning is essential. Drones typically require battery replacements after a specific duration or area coverage. It’s recommended to carry additional charged batteries to the field to maintain continuous operations. This not only ensures uninterrupted work but also optimizes the use of resources like fertilizers and pesticides, which are tailored to specific crop needs.
While the Resume feature in AeroGCS GREEN allows resuming operations, it’s not always efficient; repeated coverage of the same area consumes additional time and energy. Plan Splitting in AeroGCS GREEN addresses this by estimating mission duration based on battery power and area coverage, enabling pilots to make well-informed decisions for efficient operation.
To use the Plan Splitting feature, simply select the "Plan Splitting" option from the menu, which will open the Plan Splitting slider at the bottom of the screen, as illustrated in
Step-by-Step Guide:
Setting the Split Percentage:
Choose the percentage you wish to split from either the start or end of the route. Adjust the slider to set your desired split percentage.
Blue lines on the map will represent areas excluded from the drone's flight path, while yellow lines indicate the intended route for the drone.
Saving the Split Plan:
After setting up the split, close the Plan Splitting slider widget. A confirmation message will appear, asking if you want to "Save in Existing" or "Create New Plan", as shown in
For best practices, select "Create New Plan" to save the split as a separate plan, preventing any overwriting of the original plan
Loading the Plan for Flight:
Load the saved plan to initiate the drone’s flight over the designated area. Any remaining sections can be covered once the initial part is completed, thus saving time and energy
Benefits of Plan Splitting
The Plan Splitting feature offers significant advantages in managing several critical parameters, including:
Pesticide Spraying: Optimizes spray coverage by splitting large areas.
Adjusting Altitude and Speed: Allows altitude and speed adjustments for different sections of a large plot.
Battery and Liquid Conservation: Efficiently manage battery power and spray liquid, reducing downtime for replacements.
This functionality enhances operational efficiency, enabling pilots to accomplish tasks with minimal resource wastage and maximized productivity.
